Everyday contractors, engineers, and building owners across the country turn to the ease of DX air conditioning for a variety of reasons including:
- Low cost option
- Usually readily available
- Ease of installation and service
- Wide variety of options to accommodate space needs
The challenge with DX systems is that they are oversized by design! This is due to the fact the cooling capacity (tonnage) of these systems are selected based on the space’s “design day” conditions. For those unfamiliar, a “design day” also commonly referred to as peak load conditions, takes into account the full ambient (highest outside temperature for the region) load, full building occupancy, all lights, computers and other equipment are on, occupant fresh-air ventilation, etc. The problem is that this “design day” rarely occurs. This means that the unit will be providing too much cooling capacity the majority of the time. Depending on where you are in the country, an oversized unit can have dire consequences for the indoor space and equipment including:
- High Humidity
- Varying/Uncomfortable Space Temperature
- Compressor Short Cycling as space temperature is met too quickly
- Potential Evaporator Coil Freezing & Liquid Slugging/Flood-back
Solution: The APR Control
To prevent or solve these ongoing issues, every DX unit NEEDS to have some form of capacity control to accommodate the inevitable lower load conditions in the space. Providing capacity control will be critical for compressor protection as well. There are an abundance of capacity control options available in the market, but there are plenty of reasons why the APR Control is the premier choice for many contractors, engineers, and manufacturers:
- Strong track record of success in solving common oversized unit issues since 1993
- Ability to be installed on New & Existing units
- Cost Effective
- Simplicity and Reliability; virtually maintenance free
